Something New

An arrangement of notes and soundscapes in an unnamed music

— -I cannot quite find where it meets me.

A combining of spices I do not recognize stews into an unknown taste.

I am on a road, but I do not know the landscape,

the turns,

the hills.

I do not remember who once lived in that house over there.

I am not of this.

And it is necessary to pay attention.

To hone in,

On a weird combination of remorse and curiosity -

A chemical unbinder of predictable nexts

An emulsifier of new nuance.

That allows me to be honest about the nasty history,

Honest and still lost.

In the unfamiliar-

It is finding that door to a world that does not track on old rails,

opens only with pause.

Slams with eager practicality.

In the future I will be different

And the me of now will be a foreigner — an awkward guest in my own history.

Change is when I look back and see I did not see.

And know that I still don’t know.
